In my work, the connection between the literal and the abstract meet somewhere in between. The colors that I choose, the physical application of the paint, the movement of the brushstroke, the shape of the form, all take me to a place where reality is softened and lines are blurred. . . a world where absolute truth can be transformed into my reality..

Influenced by both the Romanticists and the Fauves, the views that inspire me have always been the simple ones. The humble skies, the tender views of marsh, the inner life of the woods. These things tell me about the world today; a world that in some ways has never changed. Memory combines with the brush, and I can pare away the elements which distract and complicate my vision., while at the same time experiment with glazing, bold color and loose brushwork to achieve a fresh perspective and an aesthetic response.
