I graduated from S.U.N.Y., New Paltz with a Masters of Science Degree in Art Education and taught in a public school district in Ulster County, New York for thirty-one years.  During the summers I took courses at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York city.

I have always painted.  At S.U.N.Y., I learned to make large, expressive paintings as part of a Fine Arts education.  In contrast, at the Fashion Institute, I was trained to paint in a very  detailed and precise manner.  Both influences can be seen in my work.

I love the colors and shapes of flowers.  To me, they represent hope and optimism.  In my paintings, flowers can be seen in vases and gardens with a variety of backgrounds.  Some of the flowers are wind-blown, while others are surrounded by darkness.  I have been inspired by the work of Emil Nolde, Charles Burchfield and Vincent Van Gogh.

I have participated in outdoor shows at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, New York and had a one-woman show at the Pine Bush Arts Council.  For three years I have been a member of the Riverwinds Gallery store in Beacon, New York.
